Type of Work: This position will perform detailed work in support of New River Valley Community Services centralized payroll processing. Work will primarily involve the gathering and processing of payroll data to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. Works with other departments within the agency to ensure payroll accuracy. The Payroll Specialist will also be responsible for maintaining files for the Accounting Department and will assist with Medical Records invoicing and payment tracking. Other accounting duties to include preparing miscellaneous deposits, processing garnishments, and quarterly tax preparation.

Qualifications: A minimum of an Associate’s degree in business/accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience preparing payroll and analyzing related reports. Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications including manipulating data within Excel. Previous experience working with electronic payroll/accounting software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
Salary Details: $29,878-$32,865 annually; negotiable, depending on qualifications.
