Day Support Counselor PT (re-ad 22-00226)
High school diploma or GED; some college coursework preferred; experience in giving direct behavioral and hygiene care to individuals with intellectual disabilities or related experience in a human services field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The applicant should have experience with a PC or laptop as the position requires basic computer skills including word processing and typing skills. The position requires excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. The applicant should be familiar with writing or summarizing dally documentation of consumer services. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position will help complete basic word processing assignments and write daily documentation on consumer services. The position will deliver personal care, facilitate various classes, and assist persons while in the community for trips, activities, and/or instructional classes. The individual will record data as required to document the delivery of services. The individual must be comfortable working within a class structure, engaging persons, and assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities. Perform other work as required. The job is center-based at a community day program and can occur in the community for volunteer and recreational program activities. PLEASE NOTE
