Licensed Practical Nurse
The City of Virginia Beach’s Department of Human Services is actively seeking to hire multiple
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) that will be assigned to different
Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs) within our Developmental Services Division, providing care to adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The
ideal candidates will have a minimum of three (3) years of experience, including two (2) years specialty in ICF/Group Home Nursing and Long-Term care.
Selected candidates will qualify for a generous
$3,000 hiring bonus!
Duties:
- Responsible for contributing to the biological, psychological, and social assessment of clients.
- Assist with the development and implementation of health-related components of the Individual Program Plan (IPP).
- Collaborate with members of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and other healthcare professionals in the community.
- Within the scope of practice, the nurse provides technical support to non-licensed staff regarding health care services and medication administration.
- At the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor the LPN, within the scope of their practice, will assess, implement, and evaluate the individual’s healthcare needs for all acute and chronic healthcare conditions.
- May be required to participate in training, meetings, and participate in community engagements to further support the individuals residing in the ICF.
- Communicate in an effective, respectful, professional manner using methods easily understood by all parties involved.
- Maintain current certification for Licensed Practical Nursing in the state of Virginia; maintain CPR and defensive driving throughout employment with the City of Virginia Beach.
This recruitment will be used to fill
multiple full-time vacancies for day and evening shifts at various Intermediate Care Facilities.

**Hiring bonuses shall only be for new hires of original employment or reemployment as defined in Human Resources Policy No. 5.0.
- $750 will be awarded in the first paycheck.
- $1,000 will be awarded upon completion of the six (6) month interim performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
- $1,250 will be awarded upon completion of the employee’s one (1) year probationary period and a performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
