Peer Support Specialist (Relief) (Pos. #1002)
PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST – Hourly. Individuals wanted to provides peer assistance and support to consumers and their families.
The Peer Specilist may also offer assistance in linking, assisting, referring, monitoring, collaborating, and coordinating community treatment and resources for the consumer, as requested and appropriate. This position interacts with consumers, family members, behavioral health professionals, law enforcement and the public. The Peer Specialist will advocate for consumers in crisis, while offering support, education and asssitance to the consumer while working collaboratively with Emergency Services Staff in providing crisis intervention, crisis stabilization, and short term crisis counseling.
Requires flexibility based on need.
At least one year experience in behavioral health services or with behavioral health populations, whether through previous employment or participation in services, is required. At least 2 years of psychiatric stability and/or sobriety and completion of peer based, recovery specialized training as required by DBHDS. Preference is given to those who have within the past three years completed a DBHDS recognized Peer Specialist curriculum/program. The curriculum/program should have included no less than ninety (90) hours of training that covered the areas of content for peer support recommended by DBHDS. Candidate must have proficient computer skills, experience in record keeping/report completion and proficient scheduling/time management skills.
