Residential Support Specialist (Group Home Counselor) (FT/PT)
Southside Community Services Board seeks a qualified individual for its residential facilities at Ashley Manor and Marc Manor in LaCrosse, Virginia, to provide direct care services (supervision and instruction) to intellectually disabled adult individuals. Incumbent implements individual service plans; assists in areas of self-help, daily living, personal hygiene, social and community interaction skills, meal planning and nutrition. Monitors/assists with medications, ensuring compliance; maintains appropriate documentation in accordance with state licensing regulations, and enters timely/accurate documentation in agency’s electronic health records system. Transports residents as needed. Some lifting and movement of residents required. ONLY THOSE ABLE TO WORK HOLIDAYS, WEEKENDS AND POSSESS VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH SAFE DRIVING RECORD NEED APPLY.
A degree in a human services field and previous direct care experience preferably in a residential setting desired; high school graduate/GED minimum with basic knowledge of mental retardation and instructional techniques. Must maintain strict confidentiality, possess effective communication skills, and have all mandatory trainings (CPR, First Aid, medication, etc.) or be trained after hire. Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.
