Job Description/Essential Functions:
District 19 Community Services Board is seeking a qualified professional to assume the responsibilities of full-time SDA (Same Day Access) Assessor. Same Day Access program is the initial point of contact for information and service requests for a wide range of mental health, substance use, and development disability services and programs. This position’s incumbent is responsible for completing screenings and assessments (diagnostic evaluations) for the Same Day Access (SDA) program throughout the catchment areas of District 19 CSB (Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Colonial Heights, Sussex, Surry, Prince George/Hopewell and Emporia/ Greensville). Assessor is responsible for providing clinical comprehensive assessments to determine needs and eligibility for services. Referrals to crisis intervention, crisis stabilization, community resources, or other appropriate level of services are completed as necessary. This position was developed to meet SDA and Primary Care Screening requirements of STEP-VA. Primary Care Screening and Monitoring will be an added component to the assessment process.

Pre-admission screening evaluator is hired with knowledge, skills, and abilities to establish a welcoming environment for individuals with co-occurring disorders and performing hopeful engagement and integrated screening and assessment.

Requirements: (Experience, Essential Education, and Skills Needed):
Master’s degree with a major course of study in Human Services (e.g., Counseling, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Nursing) or Master’s Degree or Equivalent course credits in Psychology. Successful applicant must be Licensed or license eligible as a LPC, LCSW, LSATP, LCP, etc . Ability to obtain Certification as Preadmission Screening Evaluator. Ability to work independently with supervisor back up. Ability to work in multiple environments. Flexibility is essential.

Knowledge of crisis intervention and diversion therapeutic practices and techniques; human personality, growth and development; mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities; evaluation assessment of mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities; case management services; written, oral and interpersonal communications, interagency services coordination. At least 2 years’ experience with completing psycho-social evaluations; maintaining casework documentation; coordinating services for the mentally ill; providing mental health consultation and education services. Ability to work effectively with all types/levels of persons; exercise sound judgment; demonstrate initiative; maintain confidentiality; effectively implement interagency coordination of services.

Preferred Qualifications / Other Relevant Job Information:
This position requires travel to all locations within District 19 CSB to conduct screenings and assessments. The incumbent will be required to travel daily from one or two of the clinics within the board.

This position has the potential to provide back-up in different programs (Crisis Assessment Center and Emergency Service)

Position is a grade 210 or 211 depending on licensure status. The minimum salary for this position is $$47,476.00.00. /annual.

Starting salary for new employees will be based on the prospective employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities directly relating to the position’s duties. Current or most recent verified salary will also be taken into consideration prior to making an offer of employment. Starting salaries for new employees will not exceed the advertised maximum and will be based on the availability of funding within the current budget.

Position requires pre-employment extensive background check and drug screening, position requires a valid drivers license in state of residence with a point balance of -6 or higher.
