High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of experience driving large passenger vans and working with people diagnosed with disabilities preferred. The ability to interact professionally with consumers and while in the community is essential. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background investigation and education/degree verification required.
Duties include providing safe and reliable transportation to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness from their homes to psychosocial programs, employment sites and appointments using County vehicles. Other duties include completing daily documentation, recording all trips in an accurate and timely manner for billing purposes, performing daily vehicle maintenance checks, maintaining cleanliness to interior and exterior of vehicles.
