Clinician III- ACT Program

The Clinician III ensures the provision of the ACT model assertive community treatment and coordination of services to adult SMI consumers in the Chesapeake service area via program coordination, direct service, consultation, and education, as well as other intra-agency and inter-agency functions. The Clinician III serves in a supervisory capacity of Clinician II and Peer Recovery Specialist positions and works closely with other ACT team members using a multidisciplinary team approach. This position involves rotating on-call evening and weekend responsibility, quality reviews of ACT documentation, and subordinate staff supervision.
Typical tasks include:

- Develops person-centered treatment plans with the participation of individual and significant others chosen by individual, and guardian as applicable
- Prepares reports related to individual services for both inter-agency use, and administrative statistical data as needed.
- Perform necessary case management functions related to recruitment, service referrals, coordination of care, monitoring/follow up and case documentation.
- Maintain clinical records in accordance with regulatory standards, including Department of Human Services, DMAS, and Licensure, ensuring that all filing of clinical information and submission of billing information is done accurately and within the time frame required.
- Supervise other clinical professionals and volunteers to expand services to individuals, and may provide clinical management of a specialized treatment within the ACT team under the administrative direction of the Team Leader.
- Attends scheduled staff meetings and daily team meetings to review and plan services.

Vocational/Educational Requirement: Requires a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field or other degree as approved by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
Experience: In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of three years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses: Requires a valid driver’s license with a driving record that is in compliance with
City’s Driving Standards. Depending on assignment, may require Qualified Mental Health Professional (
QMHP) or Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (
QIDP) certification and highest Part C standards within 6 months of hire;
CPR, First Aid and Medication Administration certifications within 3 months of hire; Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (
CSAC) certification upon hire; Case Management Modules and Intellectual Disabilities Workbook completed within thirty days of hire; Part C Early Intervention Certification within six months of hire; and/or Pre-Screening Certification within 6 weeks of hire (12 weeks for part-time staff).
Special Requirements: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
