SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER THERAPIST

This exempt (FLSA) position’s incumbent provides Same Day Access services when needed and completes comprehensive assessments to determine the behavioral health needs of individuals. Assists in the development of person-centered Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and provides individual, group and family therapy to individuals diagnosed with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders. Provides and coordinates OBAT/MAT and Recovery Court services, ensuring that individuals are meeting treatment requirements, including participating in drug screens, therapy requirements and other required components in the ARTS program. Provides services to assist the individual in achieving their highest level of functioning possible. Coordinates services and treatment with other programs at SBH, private providers, and community partners. Provides consultation throughout the catchment area to assist with building services for all three counties served. Maintains timely, comprehensive and accurate documentation as required to meet state and federal regulations and SBH policies. Facilitates inpatient detox and residential treatment for individuals with SUD and provides aftercare treatment and support for individuals who return to the SBH catchment area. All licensed therapists are required to become a certified prescreener and be available as emergency back up in times of prescreener shortage.
Hybrid virtual/on-site work schedule is possible after a 6 month probationary period.
Responsibilities
- Provides Same Day Access services and completes screenings and a comprehensive needs assessment when necessary to determine the diagnosis, level of care in accordance with ASAM and service needs of individuals.
- Develops Individualized Service Plans and provides clinical services to individuals diagnosed with behavioral health needs through individual, family, or group counseling utilizing evidence based practices.
- Provides individual, group and family therapy to individuals diagnosed with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders.
- Provides and coordinates services required for Recovery Court, provides documentation, reports and data required for all Recovery Court Participants.
- Coordinates services and treatment with the identified SBH SUD team (OBAT, Recovery Court, MAT), other programs at SBH, private providers, and community partners providing assistance to individuals to motivate them through the continuum of care for SUD diagnoses.
- Engages with case managers and peer support to ensure that individuals have support and wrap around services in place in the community. Arranges for in-patient detoxification and residential treatment as appropriate, based on assessment and evaluation. Obtains necessary authorization for funding for services and assists with management of those authorizations.
- Provides after-care therapy, outpatient counseling, and support for consumers subsequent to substance abuse treatment upon their return to the community.
- Perform prescreenings under Emergency Services in times of staffing shortage.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, is required.
- LCSW, LPC, or Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Provider in Virginia required.
- Previous clinical/therapy experience related to behavioral health and substance use services (e.g., diagnostics, documentation, crisis intervention and therapy) helpful.
- Must meet all criminal background and drug testing requirements.
