CFS- SCHOOL BASED THERAPIST
This position provides individual, group and family therapy services to high-risk children and their families within the public school system. This includes supportive counseling, needs assessments, referrals to emergency services and crisis intervention as needed. Promotes acquisition of skills in a variety of developmental areas, including cognitive processes and social interaction; provides curriculum planning to achieve the ISP’s planned outcome, and provides families with information and support related to enhancing the skill development of targeted populations. Ensures service plans are developmentally sensitive, trauma informed and child centered, family focused. Ensures documentation is timely, accurate and in compliance with all regulatory agencies while maintaining effective relationships with the courts, schools, social services and other appropriate agencies. This position works the schedule for the school system and in the office when school is closed and provides services both in person and via telehealth as needed. Will be trained in crisis support and evaluation. Position may require travel within the catchment area, agency vehicle and/or mileage reimbursed.
This position works the school day schedule, and will follow the SBH Holiday schedule. Clinicians will work on professional development days and see clients virtually during school breaks. Work from home options are available during school closures and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Provides outpatient individual therapy to Seriously Emotionally Disturbed (SED) or at-risk children, adolescents (ages 3-18) and their families within the public school system in the community as needed.
- Completes assessments and evaluations of all service needs of assigned clientele, including those in crisis.
- Develops and completes client Individual Service Plans (ISPs) consistent with assessment evaluations that are developmentally sensitive and trauma informed.
- Monitors client’s progress towards identified service plans.
- Ensures ISPs are child-centered, family focused and community-based.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling or other Human Services fields
- LCSW, LPC or Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor license is preferred.
- Licensed Eligible with the Board of Counseling (Resident in Counseling), or the Board of Social Work (Supervisee in Social Work) is the minimal requirement.
- Two years experience (preferred) working with children/youths and families with significant emotional and behavioral issues.
- Understanding of the public school system and provision of services within the school environment.
- Must meet all criminal background and drug screening requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record, required.
