- Performs intakes, clinical assessments.
- Develops measurable treatment plans.
- Provides individual and group counseling.
- Provides case management.
- Assists clients with aftercare planning.
- Provides substance abuse educational lectures.
- Documents all services provided in a timely manner.
- Provides crisis intervention.
- Participates in team meetings, clinical supervision and staffing.
- Serves on call outside normal business hours.
- Transports clients as needed.
- Conducts searches, room inspections and client monitoring.
- May substitute for other staff when needed.
- Assists with training new staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of the disease of chemical dependency, principles of recovery, twelve step and self-help programs, relapse prevention and cross-cultural perspectives on drug use and recovery issues.
- Thorough knowledge of basic physiology of drug addiction and withdrawal symptoms, mental health diagnoses and treatment planning.
- Thorough knowledge of the theories and evidenced based techniques of counseling and crisis intervention.
- Thorough knowledge of intake techniques and procedures.
- Ability to evaluate and screen clients.
- Ability to prepare adequate records and to report findings and data effectively.
- Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates and the general public.
- Knowledge of MS Office, to include Word and Excel.
- Master’s degree in human services or related field.
- LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or LSATP license eligible.
- Or Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC);
- At least one year experience in substance abuse and mental health is required.
- This work requires little or no physical effort or exertion.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license.
- Attends training and maintains certifications as required by the Agency and regulatory guidelines.
