The Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to serve the CIT Assessment Center as a Behavioral Health Therapist I. The primary role of this position is to provide direct diagnostic, preventive and treatment services including crisis intervention to youth who are at risk or have Serious Emotional Disturbance, individuals with a Developmental Disability, individuals with Substance Use Disorders and/or adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI). Successful candidates excel in complex, fast paced environments and are passionate about crisis work, supporting community crisis response with creative problem solving, adaptability to rapidly changing, often competing changes in demands for service, and a collaborative approach to community services. The CIT Assessment Center is provided through a continued partnership between the Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services (MHSADS) and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO). The services are provided by behavioral health professionals from MHSADS. During the hours of operation, a Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputy is available to receive an individual in crisis brought to the center by law enforcement, which allows law enforcement to return to patrol duties. Work schedule is 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday. This position is eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County’s Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree: license eligible within one (1) year of hire or possess professional licensure through the VA Department of Health Professions Board as a: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP). One (1) year of professional experience working with individuals who have a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis, which may include internship experience. Bilingual (English and Spanish) candidates strongly encouraged to apply.  Prefer certification as a Preadmission Screening Clinician (CPASC).  

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, credit check, driving record check and TB test.  Must have a valid driver’s license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
