Peer Recovery Specialist (4304)

RESPONSIBILITIES Provides person centered wellness focused support to engage individuals in treatment and to promote use of the individual’s wellness recovery plan; shares his/her firsthand lived experiences with recovery to inspire hope, increase engagement in treatment and in the communities and support individuals in articulating personal goals for wellness, recovery resiliency and self–advocacy; has knowledge of the signs and symptoms of Mental Illness and Substance Disorders and the ability to assist the individual to address symptoms using his/her individual wellness plan; provides Peer Support; serve as an advocate; carry out wellness rehabilitation for mental health and substance use disorders and support functions; promote recovery from substance use and/or mental health conditions; promote employment, education, health, and community integration; and serve as a role model for personal recovery;  services include outreach, monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, crisis intervention, consultation to families, development of functional skills and appropriate behavior, transportation to implement the individual service plan, and similar functions; services may be rendered in the group setting or on an individual basis; participates in special events, conferences, workshops, and training within the mental health system and community; works closely with staff, hospitals, and other community agencies and organizations; documents all contacts, activities in the individuals’ records.

REQUIREMENTS Minimum Requirements M1:  High school diploma or equivalent M2:  Must be, or previously have been a recipient of mental health or substance use disorder services for a mental   illness or substance use disorder and should be well along in the recovery process M3:  Valid drivers’ license and safe driving record

Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry (CANIS) report will be required upon request. Our Agency maintains a drug-free workplace.

ANNUAL SALARY RANGE $37,832 – $66,206 3% Increase for Registered Peer Recovery Specialist Excellent Fringe Benefits
